In the past few weeks, you haven’t been able to go far here in London without seeing some sort of reference to it “coming home”. While originally an ambitious claim, the English side kept pushing and have now made it to the final.
It got me thinking; maybe the footballing ambitions of England are an embodiment of an entrepreneur’s dogged determination to be a success. The determination needed to build a business is immense; the relentless resolve required is draining but it is absolutely essential. Alongside a healthy ability to reflect, learn and adapt as circumstances change.
As we now enter Q3, it is a good opportunity to reflect on the first half of 2021. Our portfolio is now 14, soon to be 15, portfolio revenues continue to grow rapidly, and now three companies are preparing to launch their series A’s.
The Investment Landscape
Since our June update, the S&P500 is up another 3%, taking it to a 17% climb year-to-date. Although it looks like there could be some bumps in the road as we (hopefully) head out of lockdowns and the more severe restrictions, financial markets seem confident that we have prosperous times ahead.
Things have been similarly positive in venture capital. Q1 was a record-breaking quarter, and according to Dealroom.co, it looks like Q2 will be even better. More than €16.3bn of venture capital investments have been made in the UK in H1 2021, vs €14.4bn for all of 2020.
The next in our series of events is on the 14th of July @16:30.
We are excited to announce we have two companies joining us. We will also be joined by a mystery guest speaker, an international celebrity and singer who is also a seasoned angel investor and fund manager.
